My son and I jumped on board for Worldschooling Central’s first trip to Indonesia and we are hooked. If my son could go anywhere Karen suggests, he would. With finances in hand, I’m right behind him. Not only was it extremely well organized, but it happened to draw a group of families which were flexible, open-minded and ready for an adventure.
The kids on the trip seemed to form a beautiful bond, allowed to hold their own congress day and night in the back of the bus or the bow of the boat. The parents shared travel stories, mom and dad’s nights out, and together formed a kind of community cohesion that is rare to find. I have no doubt I’ll stay in touch with most of those who participated and hope to meet them again on future trips. As for those inevitable travel bumps, Karen was able to slay anything that arose with ninja-like skills. She kept us calm and cohesive, and allowed this single mom, for once, to let go or organizing everything and just have some great fun! Thank you, Karen and family! Can’t wait for the next one!
My 9 year old son and I joined the Komodo Trip with the King family in April 2019. 11 families from almost every continent joined this trip and included both solo parent families and 2 parent households. I booked the trip exhausted and lonely after traveling by ourselves for several months. It looked wonderful to have an itinerary set and just show up plus a community to visit places with that I’d never have the courage to do ourselves.
This trip proved to be once in a lifetime and stands as one of our favorite travel experiences to date and allowed me to take the back burner as head of household. We met families that will be friends for life and one month later we are still missing our “Komodo family”. Momma Karen is a travel force and assured that every small detail was thought of and any incidentals that happened along the way she fixed. It’s not easy to 23 children and 16 parents from A to B but it was seamless and fun on this trip! The King family as a whole is incredibly hospitable, kind, and a blast to be around. True leadership and community were evident in everything Karen did, we can’t wait for a reunion tour with Worldschooling Central.
If you’re on the fence, just go! It was the best organized trip I’ve ever taken.
Truth be told I hate organized trips… I’ve had some really bad experiences and swore I’d never do one again. But I took a chance on Karen because I felt like she would put a trip together that would change my mind and she did not disappoint.
I’m looking forward to a future trip with Karen!
Initially when my wife suggested the trip, I didn’t want to go, but I’m excited I went – I saw a lot, I learned a lot. I was apprehensive to step outside of my comfort zone… I was apprehensive because I wasn’t sure how the world would embrace us, but I tell you, I was embraced in Egypt on this trip by Karen and her family and all of the others. And all of the children were just so loving and embracing. It was a big thing to me.
Book your trip today – step out of your comfort zone. I’ve found a lot of people, they want to go, but they won’t go by themselves. So if they can connect with Worldschooling Central and the community of kids, it will be an excellent opportunity to learn and grow and step outside of your comfort zone. So book that trip today. Don’t delay.
Hands down, you will not be disappointed. It will be the trip that encompasses all of the things that you may want to see in that area. You just need to do! If you are really considering it, if it’s something that you want to do, if your soul says go, you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go on the trip.
The thing about the King family is that they’re just genuinely amazing people and you can tell that the way they approach everything is in a genuine space of “how can we leverage this to be an amazing opportunity”. It was mind blowing. They’re lifelong friends of mine now – I love these people and the way they approached everything in this trip was legitimately amazing… I don’t know that anybody else could have done it better. Just such a great experience.
We decided to join the Worldschooling trip with Karen and her family, because we felt it was a great opportunity. We are exploring and are very fascinated with the idea of Worldschooling and being a part of Karen’s Facebook group has been very inspiring, so when I saw she had a trip, I told my Husband “we’ve got to go, we’ve got to go!”
It was a great experience. I feel like had we been alone, just the three of us, the learning experiences would not have been as rich for our 4 year old. Her attention span was captured even more because she saw other kids tuned in and learning and asking questions – as a result of that, she was more engaged.
Without a doubt, I think that if you are considering going on a trip, definitely book it – you will not regret it. All around customer service, the level of care taken by Karen and her family, the level of thought and consideration that is put into planning the trip – it’s definitely a plus. Don’t hesitate.
