Is This Trip right for you?
  • You have a real sense of adventure! There is always the potential for things to go wrong – that’s just a part of travel. Of course, we will always do our very best to avoid issues along the way.
  • You are open to new experiences and don't expect western standards. The culture in China is very different - personal space is much more limited, waiting in line is not common place (people will push in), and as foreigners you may notice extra attention by locals who have limited experience with people from other countries.
  • You understand that group travel is completely different to single family travel. We will travel with approximately 40 guests, and while we will do our very best to accommodate all of our guests needs, at some time on the trip, compromise will be necessary by everyone! Having said that, the benefits of traveling with a community like this will far outweigh the negative! For full details read our Group Travel Guide
  • You are OK sleeping onboard a train! The overnight train travel on Day 10 is in “soft sleeper” class. Bedding is sectioned off into 4 berth private compartments with lockable doors. It’s not super luxurious, but it’s neat and tidy and an incredible experience. Bedding is not actually very soft (as in most of China beds are quite firm). If this is not for you, you could choose to fly onwards to the next destination, however this will be at your own expense and without a tour guide.
  • You are adaptable! As the journey progresses, we may need to make changes to our itinerary to ensure we have an increrdible adventure. We will always keep you up to date and give as much notice as possible if/when changes are necesarry.
Important Information
  • All prices are in USD
  • The overnight train travel included on this trip is in “soft sleeper” class – carriages sectioned off into 4 berth compartments with lockable doors. Families with less than 4 people will need to share with other guests unless they choose to pay for the extra beds in the cabin ($75 per bed).
  • Guests are required to have Trip/Travel Insurance to participate on a trip with Worldschooling Central. We recommend Insured Nomads. Guests will be required to supply details of their insurance to Worldschooling Central prior to departure.
  • All guests will be required to have a Visa issued prior to arrival. For groups of 5+ we are able to obtain a Group Visa, which is a much simpler process, however guests need to arrive and depart China on the same flights. We are happy to coordinate flights with our guests to help facilitate a group visa application.
  • Guests need to be aware that internet access can be challenging in China because of Government regulations. We have chosen hotels that include wifi, however the quality, and the physical location will vary by hotel. You MAY NOT have access in your room. We strongly recommend at least one guest per family purchase a SIM card on arrival to ensure you have wifi connection. To access sites like Facebook and Google, guests will also require a VPN (download before arrival) as these sites are blocked in China.
  • A minimum of 25 guests is required for this trip to proceed. We will notify all guests when this number has been reached. We recommend that guests not book flights to China until written confirmation has been received.
