ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Is This Trip right for you?
  • You have a real sense of adventure! There is always the potential for things to go wrong – that’s just a part of travel. Of course, we will always do our very best to avoid issues along the way.
  • You are open to new experiences and don't expect western standards. The culture in Egypt is very different and at times you may feel outside of your comfort zone.
  • You understand that group travel is completely different to single family travel. We will travel with 20-40 guests, and while we will do our very best to accommodate all of our guests needs, at some time on the trip, compromise will be necessary by everyone! Having said that, the benefits of traveling with a community like this will far outweigh the negative! For full details read our Group Travel Guide
  • You are adaptable! As the journey progresses, we may need to make changes to our itinerary to ensure we have an increrdible adventure. We will always keep you up to date and give as much notice as possible if/when changes are necesarry.
Important Information
  • All prices are in USD
  • Guests are required to have Trip/Travel Insurance to participate on a trip with Worldschooling Central. We recommend Insured Nomads. Guests will be required to supply details of their insurance to Worldschooling Central prior to departure.
  • All guests will be required to have a Visa to enter Egypt. This can be issued prior to arrival or on arrival.
  • Guests need to be aware that internet access can be limited. We have chosen hotels that include wifi, however the quality, and the physical location will vary by hotel. You MAY NOT have access in your room. We strongly recommend at least one guest per family purchase a SIM card on arrival to ensure you have wifi connection.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  • When do the trips start?Because of the amount of interest we've had we've dediced to run TWO Egypt adventures this winter. Both will run for 15 Days & 14 Nights from: 1st-14th December 2021 & 12th-26th January 2022.
  • How many people will be attending? We require a minimum of 20 people on each trip, with a maximum of 40. Given the level of interest we do not expect to have any issues filling both trips and all attendees will be notified as soon as this number has been reached to allow time for booking of flights etc.
  • Isn't 40 a LOT of people? We've run multiple trips now with an average of 10-11 families and we think 40 is ideal! It helps us keep our costs down, plus we are truly able to create a traveling community. People naturally connect with some people more than others and this ensures everyone can have a wonderful time.
  • What happens if 20 guests isn't reached? If 20 guests are not reached, 60-90 days prior to the trip, guests will have the opportunity to join the other trip, or request a full refund. We will stay in constant contact with attendees with updates of how places are filling, and allow plenty of time for travel bookings to be made.
  • How is Group Travel different?Group travel is very different to just traveling as a family. It can have some drawbacks, but it can also create experiences that would otherwise be impossible. Please read this article to be sure that Group Travel is right for you.
  • What age children will be attending? In 2019 we had an amazing group of children attend aging from 4 to 15 years. The trip is designed for families and tailored accordingly. Past guests have been extremely happy with the value their children got out of the trip.
  • Will I need Travel or Trip Insurance? Yes. Both Worldschooling Central and the tour operators in Egypt require all guests to have trip/travel insurance. Click here to learn more about who we personally use and recommend.
  • What Visa will I require to enter Egypt? You will require a Visa to enter Egypt. It costs approx $25USD and is quite easy to obtain. Click here to find out more. We do recommend getting this before you arrive in the country, although Visa on arrival is possible.
  • What Covid-19 restrictions are there? For up to date requirements related to Covid-19, please click here. We will require all guests to adhere to Egypt's Covid requirements, including the wearing of masks, if/when necessary. We are guests in the country and we expect all guests to respect the requirements of the country.
  • What if my family gets sick on the trip? We want everyone on our adventures to have an incredible time, however we appreciate that sometimes people do get ill, and it is important that we not allow that illness to affect the larger group. If a family member gets sick we will require them to remain at the hotel until symptoms have passed. We will assist in any way possible to seek medical help if needed.
  • What will the quality of accommodation be? The accommodation during the trip will be 4* and 5*, however we like all guests to be aware that the quality of accommodation expected at this level is typically lower than you may be acustomed to at home. We recommend dropping your expectations to a 3* & 4* standard. All accommodation will be neat and clean and has been chosen to both keep prices down and ensure guests have a lovely time.
  • What if problems arise during the trip? We take a lot of pride in the quality of experience our guests have, however if we don't know about a problem, we can't possibly be expected to help fix it. Throughout the trip, we will be available to all guests via Facebook Messenger and ask that if something occurs that negatively impacts your experience that you let us know immediately, so that we can help you. We're here to help you, and will, as long as you ask for help! Fair enough?
  • Is Tipping required in Egypt? Tipping is customary for pretty much all services in Egypt. A tip of 10–15% is customary at cafes and restaurants. It’s also a good idea to tip local guides and drivers USD 2–4 per day.. We will co-ordinate a Tipping Kitty of $65/adult to cover our tour visits/meals etc. This will exclude Guides who you can tip at the end of the tour.
  • Is there good Wifi in Egypt? Internet access is growing in Egypt, with internet cafes and Wi-Fi hotspots becoming increasingly common in large cities, especially Cairo, though access may be limited in smaller towns and remote areas. Wifi in Hotels is often limited to public spaces, something to be aware of to avoid disappointment.
  • Can I buy a Sim Card for internet access? There are a number of major cell phone companies in Egypt. We've personally used Vodafone and found the coverage excellent in most places. Buying a Sim Card at the airport is quick and easy, and unlike many places, very similar in price to purchasing outside of the airport.
